Mushrooms to minimize waste, create new materials and reduce greenhouse gases: MycoCycle

Updated: Aug 28, 2023

Launched by mycoremediation pioneer Joanne Rodriguez, Mycocycle is an early-stage biotechnology company specializing in harnessing the power of mushrooms, to develop processes that minimize waste, create new materials and reduce greenhouse gases.

Mycocycle‘s patent pending approach, partners with nature to drive circular reuse of industrial waste materials to create a renewable resource of biobased materials that are fire and water resistant and can be manufactured into new products such as ceilings, flooring, insulation, and concrete creating circular economic models and improving human and environmental health.

For every ton of waste diverted from landfill almost 3 metric tons of CO2e is avoided.

Mycocycle is not only diverting waste from landfills. Their process neutralizes heavy carbons entering our environment and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

By 2030, their goal is to avoid a gigaton of CO2e through a low energy intensive process with impact to both the waste sector as well as materials replacement.

Mycocycle is transforming waste to value and is on a mission to pioneer natural waste solutions for a carbon neutral future.
